Looking for advice on fixing the brown patches that have appeared on my lawn.

I laid this lawn during March, I think the first cut was too aggressive with a poor quality mower and its never really recovered. I have three small dogs, am I right to assume its their urine causing this, or something else?

Is there any way I can get the lawn looking healthy once again?
