Not all feedback is great, obviously, but I think I struggle with determining what feedback is valuable and what isn't. Sometimes I find myself rejecting the bulk of what someone tells me and I wonder if I'm being overly defensive of a part of the work. And conversely, sometimes I feel like I'm overly willing to completely change it, depending on what they're telling me.

I think, at the moment, my approach is to just trust my gut (Does this feedback kill what I think is the voice of this work? Does it maybe create a better pacing? Does it fit information that's needed later?) but I'd love to know how others approach the question.

How do you know if what you're preserving is just a bad narrative voice? What if you're actually agreeing to changes that sand down the uniqueness of your work?
