Adding to my last post : battery or alt

https://www.reddit.com/r/VWatlas/s/7COWp9qIyM

I attached my last post.

Update. We took the battery out of my car got it tested and it’s showing 100% charge but the alt is still showing fail on the voltage regulator. We were going to get my old alt tested but it wouldn’t fit on the bench press since there’s threads keeping the pins from entering through it. I also discovered that whoever replaced the battery did not put a AGM battery in the car & put a die hard gold battery. I’m wondering if the wrong battery is what’s causing the issues cause I’ve heard from quite a bit of people that my alt going bad at 83k miles is almost unheard of. So we are going to put my old alt back on my car and get the duralast AGM platinum battery installed and programmed. The battery itself is only a year and half old. But I read the battery can drain quicker if it’s not AGM because of my cars high electric use.
I added roadside assistance to my insurance plan just in case. I did decide to get a rental to keep from driving my car.

Battery or alt?

I have a 2021 VW atlas SE v6 3.6 with about 83k miles. Sunday my car wouldn’t turn back on after me charging my phone before going into the store sitting idle. We finally got it back on with a jump.
It started running fine after that, but I got it checked at autozone and they said my battery was testing good but my voltage regulator is failing. So I bought an alt from autozone , me & my dad installed it yesterday. I went yesterday after and drove around 20/25 minutes , had autozone check the car again , battery 91% & pass but voltage regulator fail again. The lady told me to come back tomorrow again after I test drive a little more. Now this morning it came back at 71% battery still pass, but again voltage regulator fail. I’m thinking either my original alt wasn’t bad and my battery is, or the new alt is faulty. I’m going back to autozone tomorrow and having them test my old alt to see if it was actually bad. I ordered a new alt from AutoZone and I’m going to get it tested to see if it’s good. If my alt ends up still being good, I’m going to replace the battery. Has anyone had this issue? What did you do?
