Best option for connecting all devices
I recently purchased a Bravia 7 II and a Bravia Theater Bar 6 (just the soundbar and sub, no extra speakers).
I regularly use my Apple TV 4k, Xbox Series X, PS5, and Switch. On my old TV and before I had the soundbar I just connected all of my devices via HDMI.
To manage all five devices in my new setup (and since the B7 II only has two 2.1 ports), I bought an Orei 8k 5-input HDMI switcher. The switcher has a dedicated eArc soundbar input and enough other inputs for all my consoles and the Apple TV. I appreciate the CEC support and the auto-switch feature, and I'm glad I can keep everything connected, but I've run into some issues. Frequently, when switching inputs to a device playing content at a different resolution, the picture cuts out entirely while the audio keeps playing. Sometimes I'm able to correct this by switching to another input and back, but sometimes I have to turn off all connected devices and start back up.
So, I'm looking for a better/more reliable solution. Do I need a better switcher or possibly an AVR? If the latter, I've never used one before so I'm not sure what I should be looking for or if it does everything that I do now. I don't need it to do CEC or auto-switching as long as the picture works and the audio comes through the soundbar.
Thanks for any advice!
