Howzit guys. I appreciate all the help in my previous post with regards to getting a sharpening setup. Most common advice i received was to get a low speed grinder and a wolverine jig. So thats what i’ve decided on.

Unfortunately , besides the tormek (which is way out of my budget), i cannot find any grinders around the speed that was recommended (1750 rpm).
I’m only seeing grinders between 2850 and 3500 rpm. This is second hand and brand new.

I’m in South Africa,hence my difficulty in finding 1.

Any advice/tips will be of great help.

Just started turning recently and noticed i’m not getting clean cuts aswell as hollowing taking ages. Thanks to guys on this group i found out that sharpening is a part of turning. Come to think of it, it makes sense, but my wallet is definitely caught off guard😅

There are many different setups out there. What equipment should i get so that i can sharpen tools easily and not spend crazy money?

Just started turning. Managed to get a decent lathe setup with a lot of tools. Noticed i’m not getting clean cuts and it’s taking ages to hollow out bowls.

Any tips on sharpening without fancy equipment and also on hollowing out bowls will help.
