Reviews, theories, and descriptions- Milo

Reviews, theories, and descriptions- Milo

Warning: spoilers ahead.

His character was portrayed in a really interesting way. At first glance, he looks intimidating—a big, muscular guy who stood out from the rest—but it turned out he was incredibly shy and anxious. He is the complete opposite of Oddward:

O: slender, hair yellow at the bottom, black at the top

M: muscular and broad, hair black at the bottom, yellow at the top

O: calm, unemotional, unfriendly, brave

M: anxious, emotional, kind, timid

O: mastered, spectacular Tama

M: a funny Tama that he was ashamed of

I think his parents might have contributed to these differences by putting Oddward on a pedestal while ignoring or disregarding Milo. There’s plenty of room for speculation here, since we don’t know anything about their parents yet.

I’m really glad he found friends who support him. With them, he learned to use his jelly for Gorotama games and stopped being ashamed of it. Interestingly, whenever the Knights combine their Tama, they do it with his. Combining the jelly with Key’s dragon created a jelly dragon, with Ssyele, it produced a time jelly and with Ameline, an anti-Tama jelly. He hasn't tried it with his brother yet, though I think it would be unnecessary since Oddward’s illusions are realistic enough as it is. I do wonder why they only combine Tama with him, and whether they could manage without Milo. Perhaps there is something about Milo that allows their magical powers to merge.

I was also a bit surprised that the spirits are afraid of the jelly and how it affects them. I saw a post suggesting that maybe his jelly contains salt instead of sugar. That would explain its taste and the damage it inflicted on the spirits during the match against the Shadows.

Reviews, theories, and descriptions- Ameline

Warning: spoilers ahead.

It’s hard to say anything definitive here. We know nothing about her parents, just as we know nothing about her; she is a complete mystery. But let’s focus on what we do know. She possesses strange inventions—somewhat reminiscent of our own technology—that others fail to recognize, and she is interested in peculiar magic; her Tama resembles a leech and has the ability to steal other Tamas. She knows who Agromar is, and the drawings in her diary resemble those found in the tunnel—or whatever it was—that the Knights discovered in Episode 11. She is certainly either extremely introverted or hiding something, which explains her unusual behavior.

How could her Tama be upgraded? I think there are two ways. The first is a bit odd but effective: after absorbing someone’s Tama, she could spit it into a special container designed to keep it trapped inside. The second method: since she can breathe through her nose after swallowing a Tama, she could potentially hold onto someone else’s Tama for a long time, given that she rarely opens her mouth anyway. She could also, for instance, siphon up multiple Tamas at once.

I constantly get the feeling that she is hiding something. I suspect she might have encountered a "leech" before—perhaps one attacked her family—and now she wants revenge by getting rid of them. However, that doesn't explain why she has no surname. How did they even allow her to attend the school without knowing who she really is? But as we all know, the Goyens often turn a blind eye. There are old character descriptions on Pinterest, and I found one for Ameline. With a little help from AI—since the text was hard to decipher—I read that the creators originally intended for Ameline to be an alien who sought to capture the evil magic from the Helmet of Banners at night. I don’t know how much of that remains—since, for instance, Calista was originally supposed to be named Paula—so I’m not sure. But they definitely kept some elements of that idea.

Reviews, theories, and descriptions – Ssyele Tournefeuille

Warning: spoilers ahead.

I think Ssyele has French roots—or something like that; it might be a different country, but from that region—judging by her surname, which gives me that impression, and her dad's accent.

Ssyele is a truly amazing person. She has an extraordinary character: she is brave, intelligent, tenacious, usually composed, and very likable. She is arguably a favourite among most fans. Yet, despite these qualities, she sometimes acts just like Key—impulsively. She jumped into an abyss after a boy she had known for perhaps two days in total; she turned down offers to play on a team where she and Tama would have been stars; and shortly after joining the school, she was already playing in a shorthanded lineup alongside the experienced, older Roses and the twins in the Forge—even though she could have simply waited for Caliban’s return. Fortunately, however, everything turned out well.

As for her Tama, I hope she develops it—for instance, by expanding the time-stop field, stopping a player or the ball even from a distance, or being able to move normally while inside the field herself. I’m sure there will be a way to upgrade her Tama.

I’m glad she’s such a great protagonist. She’ll likely play a crucial role for Key and in uncovering the identity of the Leech.

Reviews, theories, and descriptions – Key Nagatatsu

Warning: spoilers ahead!!!

In my opinion, Key is mature for his age—despite sometimes being reckless, hot-headed, impulsive, and hyperactive (though what can you expect from a 12-year-old?). I don't think I was the only one surprised to learn later just how young the main characters actually are; initially, I had pegged them at 14, and Oddward at 16 (though I got that one right). They probably did it to appeal to that specific age group, but it doesn't quite sit right with me.

Aside from trying to keep the newly formed team together alongside Ssyele, Key faces another very difficult task: learning to master his dragon, Tama, just as his mother did. The difference between them is that Edina wanted to control her dragon (which didn't go very well for her), whereas Key wants to befriend it—or something along those lines. I’ve been thinking about the color of his dragon and its flames. From episode 1 through 8, Key’s dragon is yellow-orange, but in episode 9, its colors shift to blue—the same shade his mother’s had. However, a spoiler shows Key facing a yellow-orange egg—the same kind he saw in his dream in episode 8—only this time, it has already hatched. Perhaps the yellow dragon represents a core or base form, while the blue one is just one of many possible forms it can take.

I also have another theory. I don't recall where I heard it, but I read that the Tama activates at the age of four or five. So how on earth did Key discover his when he was eleven or twelve? I think it has something to do with the hair tie—or whatever it is—that he wears (I don't know the exact name for it, but I'm sure everyone knows what I mean). Every time he unleashes his full power (at least for now), the tie snaps. We see plenty of magical objects: the Diadem of Shadows, Ameline’s inventions, the nurse’s crystals, the ones securing the training chamber, and so on. Key’s hair tie reminds me of a jade bracelet—specifically the kind of magical stone that acts as a protective shield, absorbing negative energy and shattering when it takes the hit from an impending misfortune. That stone harmonizes emotions and relieves stress. Perhaps in their world, it absorbs the Tama, or at least a part of it.

Reviews, Theories, and Descriptions – Edina Nagatatsu 2.0

(The previous post had a few errors, so this one is corrected. Sorry for the confusion; I'm quite new here.)

She was a brilliant Dragon striker—something most evident in Episode 9 (I think), where Sugoi shows Key how his mom used to play. However, I feel it was a bit unfair that the Dragons beat the Bards back then. I know it sounds odd, but I believe the Bards deserved the win more. Surya and the rest of the team played brilliantly and gave it their all the whole time. Then, suddenly, Edina stepped in near the end of the match and wiped everyone out in a matter of minutes, securing the victory for the Dragons. I realize the stronger side usually wins, and perhaps I’m biased because I’m fond of Surya, but I really felt for them. I also didn't quite like how the commentator claimed Edina won single-handedly, ignoring the significant help she received from Sugoi.

The second memory—or rather, the first one—concerned how she lost control of her Tama. I wonder what could have happened to make such a skilled dragon-riding attacker suddenly lose control. I doubt it was because of the Banner Helmet, since she likely wouldn't have worn it for the qualifiers (after all, why would she?). The flashback shows Mara getting wounded in the arm and Surya completely engulfed in flames from the waist up—the aftermath of which is visible in Episode 11. My theory is that perhaps someone attacked her, and her Tama spiraled out of control in self-defense. Key's Tama did something similar when Casper attacked him (though no one was hurt except Casper).

I hope you enjoy the post.

Reviews, theories, and descriptions – Edina Nagatatsu

I wanted to start with the past, so Edina goes first.

She was a brilliant Dragon Striker—something most evident in Episode 9 (I think), where Sugoi shows Key how his mom used to play. The second memory—or rather, the first one—concerned how she lost control of her Tama. Surya claimed her dragon attacked the nest, Sugoi said it was an accident; Edina died a hero, but I wonder what could have happened to make such a skilled dragon rider suddenly lose control. I doubt it was because of the Banner Helmet, as she likely wouldn't have worn it for the qualifiers (after all, why would she?). The flashback shows Mara getting wounded in the arm and Surya engulfed in flames from the waist up—the aftermath of which is visible in Episode 11. Edina sacrificed her life because that was probably the only way to make her dragon vanish and stop attacking others. My theory is that perhaps someone attacked her, and her Tama spiraled out of control in self-defense. Keya’s Tama did something similar when Casper attacked him (though no one was hurt except him).

Do you want a review?

I plan to post daily reviews, descriptions, and theories regarding all the characters and teams from Dragon Striker. Let me know if you're interested in this kind of thing, as I'm not sure if anyone would care. I am drawing inspiration from CuteFacePlant and his/her posts titled "my unnecessarily long review of Dragon Striker."

What is Oddward really like?

I think Oddward is actually a really nice person. I know it sounds strange, but that’s honestly the impression I get. To me, he acts like a mentor to the Knights because he’s already familiar with the sports world and is trying to help the team find their footing in it. I believe he cares about them, but after three years of playing alongside the incredibly arrogant Bards, his ego has overshadowed his true nature, making it hard for him to show his feelings. In Episode 11, you can also see that he still loves Casper and worries about him, when Key hurt him. Oddward exclaimed, "What did you do to him?!" so he’s technically angry with Key, but I think next season we’ll see him comforting Key and telling him not to let it get to him.

the Shadows' new goalkeeper

Since Pregrina was kicked out of the Shadows, who will take her place as goalkeeper? We know from the character cards that Conan (the new Shadows captain) can foresee the future, so he would be suited for the role, but he plays out on the field (though I find it hard to picture him with the ball)—and I don't think they have a new player.

Why don't the twins wear shoes?

Don't their feet hurt from walking on various surfaces—like, sometimes there might be glass or something?Even while playing Gorotama—which is dangerous, because we remember how they were playing with Key and Ssyele in the forge and Calista injured her foot.

How the fates of Oddward and Casper might unfold

I think Oddward and Casper will end up together, because it’s clear that they were very close before they broke up. In episode 11, when Casper gets injured, Oddward is really worried about it. This shows that, in a way, they still care about each other. I hope they make up and Casper changes a bit, because right now his personality isn't the best.
