Winning ice cream - did not translate IRL

So we were salivating watching judges rave about Pat’s “silky” total yum ice cream on his apple pie. Unfortunately did not translate in real life.

Saw both the cheeseburger pie ($24!!) and the ice cream ($8) in Coles next day and thought “wow, let’s be part of that that show we just watched” and bought the ice cream (no way paying $24 for a packaged pie). Rushed home, eagerly anticipating the taste sensation the judges raved about.

Most disappointing food choice ever. Ice cream was not salty at all, there was this unpleasant gritty half nutty half floury texture and taste - totally underwhelming. Moreover next day myself and husband woke up with enormous headaches.
We wondered if it was something we ate - checked out ingredients to ice cream and were horrified!

Store version filled with so many additives and flavours it’s almost unbelievable. If I’d read the label first would never have bought it - we try to avoid more processed foods - But because I’d seen it made with real milk and cream and ingredients on tv I let my guard down.
So disappointing. Not only for us but for the poor contestant. Never again.
