Problems with HPFP Porsche 981 Boxster 2013
Hey everyone! Quite new to this group. I have a problem with my Boxster and I’m not sure where to go next, I was hoping maybe someone had been through the same scenario and could give some tips or pointers?
My Porsche started having progressing problems, an uneven idle running and loss of some power over a few weeks, then it suddenly went into limp mode. My OBD-scanner showed fault code ”P1026”. It’s done around 105000km (65.244 miles), and it’s got the 2.7l motor with PDK transmission.
Porsche center started troubleshooting the car and said ”we see that there’s problem with the high pressure fuel pump system. It may be just the ECU, so we suggest starting there”. They switched it out, with no luck unfortunately.
They say now that the next step is switching the whole HPFP, but that this measure may not solve the problem 100% either, that there may have gotten metal into the system, problems with the fuel injectors etc. Replacing the whole thing would cost me somewhere in the ballpark of 30.000 SEK (\~3.000 USD), so doing it without a garantee of fix feels rather unwell.
Is there anyone here who has had the same problem? And if so, how did you guys solve it? Is there any way to see what specific problem is haunting the car? I feel honestly quite surprised that the mechanics at Porsche Center cannot figure it out.
TLDR;
981 Boxster developed rough idle and power loss, then went into limp mode. Porsche Center replaced the ECU for the HPFP system with no fix, now recommends replacing the whole high-pressure fuel pump (\~30k SEK/$3k) but can’t guarantee it’ll solve it (possible metal debris in system/injectors). Looking for anyone who’s dealt with this, plus recommendations for good independent Porsche mechanics in Sweden.
