Need help: OCI Misc Services asking for my 5-year-old’s signature?

I’m trying to update my 5-year-old child’s new passport information through the OCI Misc Services process.

The application asks for the applicant’s signature, and I’m confused. Since the applicant is only 5 years old, does the Government of India actually expect a 5-year-old to sign the form?

Has anyone gone through this recently? Did your child sign, did you (as the parent) sign on their behalf, or is there another requirement for minors?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has completed this process successfully. Thanks in advance!

CX805 Delays

Has anyone recently missed a connection in Hong Kong due to a late arrival of CX805 from Toronto?

What does Cathay do if connecting flights are full the next day. Were you rebooked on another airline or did you have to wait for the next available Cathay flight?

Would appreciate any recent firsthand experiences.

How difficult is to get compensation for delayed/missed connection. Does travel insurance provide compensation for inconvenience?

2021 RAV4 - Is This Weld/Seam Area a Safe Jacking Point?

I was investigating a non-metallic, non-grinding scraping/rubbing noise coming from the left rear of my 2021 RAV4. Before I start taking things apart, I would like to lift that corner just a few centimeters off the ground so I can spin the wheel by hand and listen for the source of the noise.

While looking underneath, I found the area shown in the attached photos. It appears to be some kind of factory weld, seam sealer, or reinforced body seam near the left rear.

I’m not sure exactly what it is.

Can anyone confirm:

  • Is this factory welding/seam sealer and does it look normal?
  • Is this area structurally normal and undamaged?
  • Is it safe to place a scissor jack here, or am I looking at the wrong spot?

I’m only planning to raise the wheel slightly off the ground to diagnose a rubbing/scraping noise, not perform major work under the vehicle.

Brake Pad Replacement - What is fair price

Got quoted $1,500 + tax for brake pad replacement on my 2022 Toyota RAV4 from the Toyota dealership. The quote wasn’t clear whether that price was for replacing just one rear brake pad that is at 3 mm, or for replacing all front and rear pads (which are around 5 mm) or if this includes rotor replacement as well .

The price seems quite high to me. I’m not handy enough to do the replacement myself, so I’m looking for recommendations for a reliable mechanic in the region. Also, does Costco do brake pad replacements? I have read mixed/bad reviews about Costco Tire center.

I am trying to understand if my long term disability (LTD) insurance cost are reasonable.

I am paying $1700 annually to get 50% coverage of my annual pay (120K). The benefits are tax free. 40M. Desk job.

I received an estimate today for my 12-year-old’s orthodontic treatment. The plan is for metal braces over 24 months, with monthly check-ups and a clear retainer provided after treatment. The total quote came to $6,800.

Does this sound reasonable for metal braces? I don’t have insurance coverage for orthodontics, so I’d be paying out of pocket.
