Seeking accommodations in Gijón / nearby
Hey all!
First time poster and soon to be first time eclipse viewer! Mixed in with my love for Spain, the moment I heard about this occurring in a region of Spain I've never been to was my green flag.
So the plan is I'm coming in from Germany a week before, doing some surfing in Pais Vasco, and then on the 9th a French friend from Hendaye is picking me up and we drive to Gijón. The idea was to stay here until the 13th and head out (seeing the eclipse + perseids in hopefully a dark sky).
Problem is - surge pricing + things are booked long beforehand. I saw a private in a hostel going for +600 a night which is ludacris, sorry but not all of us have that kinda cash.
We're exploring options amongst bringing a tent and sticking to camping, possibly just car camping or trying our luck and being friendly with the locals (we both speak Spanish).
But if anyone has any tips/leads/a spare bed or couch for my friend and I, we would be extremely grateful!
Bonus points if there's a surf spot nearby :)
