20000 Valvoline and Citgo NASCAR Desktop Computer

Just found this neat piece in an auction with some race cars. I’d love to see Clint bring one of these bad boys home.

The Scottish - Dario Franchitti

The year is 2007. Dario Franchitti, one of IndyCar’s legends, decides to take on a new challenge and makes the move to NASCAR, driving for Chip Ganassi Racing in the #42 Target Dodge Charger. He made four starts in the Busch Series, using them as preparation for a full time campaign in both the Nationwide Series and the Cup Series in 2008.

Dario didn’t have particularly impressive results in the #42 during his four starts, which came in the final four races of the season. He recorded two DNFs, with his best finish being 25th at Texas. His highlight, however, came in qualifying, where he secured a 3rd-place starting position at Memphis. After 2008 Dario went back to Indycar, and left a cool #42 paint scheme behind.

Winners circle diorama question

In the first photo, I added a few things next to the 1/24 raced diecast. While browsing online, I found this diorama that someone built a few years ago. Do you think it would be cool to build something similar that fits inside the acrylic display case, or would it look too busy?

Mikeeeeeey

And here we go. The year is 2007, and Toyota begins its first season in the Nextel Cup Series. Michael Waltrip believes this will be a career resurgence with the japanese manufacturer, but everything went wrong from the Daytona 500 all the way to the Ford 400 at Homestead. Waltrip qualified for only 14 of the 36 races, recording 2 top-10 finishes and 3 DNFs. His biggest highlight of the season was winning the pole for the Chase race at Talladega in the COT.

Other stats:

  • 8 laps led
  • Average start: 21.6
  • Average finish: 25.0

1999 Matt Kenseth DeWalt #17 Ford Taurus

Matt made his first starts in the No. 17 for Roush Racing in 1999 after recording a DNQ in the No. 60 in 1998. He made five starts in 1999: Michigan, Darlington, Dover, Charlotte, and Rockingham. His best result was a 4th place finish at Dover, and he also recorded three DNFs (2 crashes and a blow engine). Those were his only starts with this Taurus, as Ford introduced the updated version of the Taurus in his rookie season the following year.

NASCAR Brasil -1:12 scale

It's interesting to see this model that Full Time Racing, the NASCAR Brazil team, produced of Thiago Camilo's car. It looks like it was made using 3D printing. They also said they're planning to produce 1:24 scale versions for sale in the future.
