making the fireplace higher for a bigger stove

I am planning to install a 32" high wood stove into my fireplace but it only rises to 26".

Particularly, this model: https://www.usstove.com/fb-products/us-stove-2500-sq-ft-epa-certified-wood-stove-with-cast-iron-legs-and-blower/

Presently, my chimney is serviced and outfitted with a liner, just ready for the stove. Unfortunately the company who did that work went out of business.

Option 1) remove bricks from the upper top, about 4 rows worth, and slide the new stove into place where the liner would hook up

Option 2) extend the fireblock and have the stove just freestand, but my concern is that the flue opening would be on the top where one in the rear would be best for this configuration.

What is the best approach?
