Terrariums with temperate plants?

Hi everyone! I’m somewhat new to terrariums and I’m exploring whether it’s possible or not to house temperate-climate plants in a terrarium year round, or even for just 3-4 months.

Has anyone here, or are there any known hobbyists or museums that have done this? From what I know something like this would require much temperature, heat, light, and humidity control, and because I’ve never put a serious terrarium together myself I’m unsure if the right equipment exists to make it possible to keep, say, a goldenrod plant alive and give it the right conditions for it to flower.

I’ve already come to terms with the fact that a terrarium like this might need the plants replaced every year, since they won’t get to experience the dormancy they need to thrive.

Thanks for any guidance!
