Want to switch from Orijen to...? Diabetic Dog
Hello there,
I have a diabetic dog (german shepherd, working line, 9 years old) and she seems to be incapable of digesting wet food (which is usually recommended for diabetic dogs because of the lower amount of carbs).
We fed Royal Canin Diabetic and her digestion was great but we couldn't get rid of the spikes in blood sugar after feeding (28% NfE).
Therefore, we switched to Orijen Classic (18% NfE) and her blood sugaris great.
But I've read about DCM being related to Orijen and it not being scientifically backed. So I want to switch to a brand, that I can trust on!
I do like Royal Canin and trust them but I couldn't find a food with less carbs than the diabetic one (maybe I didn't search well enough?).
I was thinking about maybe a high energy/working dog food with more fat and protein and therefore less carbs. She is very active (about 3h unleashed walks per day, through the woods with some retrieving and obedience), so I think it could fit.
Do you have a recommendation for a food I should look up from a trusted, scientifically backed brand?
