Is attending a MAGA event condoning or enabling?
I am very liberal, so are my friends. Previously we would judge people for attending maga events or following the Trump admin on social media.
They are now friends with higher up republicans in the Trump admin and have attended parties, gotten lunch together, went to Maralago or other events like the UFC fight.
I have said that attending these events is condoning or enabling all the negatives of the Trump Admin and that going to fancy parties in expensive dresses is an insult to the people who are struggling such as myself.
They all say that it’s no big deal and that “it’s just a party” or “it’s just one night it can’t hurt”. TBH I feel disappointed that they aren’t standing up like I am and sticking to my morals.
is it ethically and morally wrong to associate and participate with these events? Or should I attend these events too and take advantage of the opportunities like my friends suggest? I feel philosophically conflicted about how to approach this.
The more I try to explain my side the more they get upset and push me out of the friend group.
