Picked on the highlights tour of Vienna. We walked over 5 miles and took the metro 2x over 3.5 hours, dumped this bag twice I was grabbing 2 or 3 cigarettes in a single pull. In Vienna tonight and tomorrow as well, more to come!
Cruised into Melk this morning. Of the 322 pieces, 54 were picked up inside the abbey grounds. It was very clean there! Could have picked 100s more from the docking area but we were only here a short time. Tomorrow Vienna!
Picked around Passau today and finished the day with 478 pieces. I had to use this reusable shopping bag and I need to re-up on paper sacks when in Vienna in 2 days. Tomorrow Melk, Austria to visit the Abby. It's described as having "spotless grounds", we'll see.
This was by far the cleanest city so far on the cruise, in terms of plastic and bigger pieces of litter. 80% of my pieces were cigarette or joint butts. A young waiter ran across the street today and said "lovely tourist I adore you doing this. You are crazy". And that was the best thing to happen to me today. Passau tomorrow, the last German city before Austria. Leave it better!
Another beautiful German city, another bag of litter picked up. Here's to leaving it better! Both nature and humanity. Next stop.... Ragensburg, Germany.
It was a gorgeous town of charming bridges and nods to baroque architecture.
Had another 2 cruise passengers ask if I worked for the cruise line. One man said "now that I found out you're one of us, this is very commendable". Let that sink in for a minute. They CANNOT comprehend the motivation and the simple action. I am enjoying making people's heads spin and to be the example of leaving it better. Tomorrow, Nuremberg!
Walked over 4 miles to the Bishop's Residence and back to the cruise ship. Today's picking adventure is taking me to Bamberg, let's go!

Why would I pause my daily litter picking? The other guests think I'm bonkers. The cruise staff and locals are absolutely charmed. I'm coming for you Wurzburg!
