Version 1.2.0 Update Feedback

I randomly noticed earlier that version 1.2.0 is out. I just checked on the off chance because about a week ago it was said that it would take around 7 to 10 days.

So far I am quite happy with the update. Two of my three clocks showed “Update fail” again, but this time updating them via USB using the web interface on the PC helped.

One question: was the scroll direction changed? I keep scrolling in the wrong direction at first now. 🤔

However, since the update, one of my three clocks has a slight display issue with the e-paper display. See the attached pictures. The time itself has only been displayed incorrectly like this after a restart so far, but it later normalizes again. The other display artifacts are always there though.

Feature suggestions for future Habity Clock updates

Hi everyone,

overall, I am very happy with the Habity Clock. I really like the design and the general experience, but I have a few feature suggestions for future updates.

I am posting them publicly here so others can discuss how useful they actually are, add their own ideas and maybe comment on whether these things are technically possible or something we could expect in the future.

I sorted them by importance.

1. Separate display light settings

It would be great if the display light could be configured in the same way as the night light. For example, automatic turn off after a set time or the option to completely disable automatic turn off.

Another useful option could be a night schedule, where you can set a specific time range for the display light. For example, display light on from 22:00 to 06:00, so the time is readable during the night without having the light on all day.

I find it a bit unfortunate that I cannot read the time at night without pressing anything. I found a workaround by keeping the night light on and disabling automatic turn off, so the time is readable during the night. But the light bar itself feels a bit distracting when it stays on all night, even on the lowest setting. So it would be ideal if this could be configured separately for the display.

2. Naming the clocks

It would be helpful to rename each clock or device.

At the moment, the IP address helps a little for orientation, but since I have multiple clocks, I always have to think about which clock is which. A custom device name would make this much easier.

3. Setting and managing alarms through the web interface

It would be more convenient if alarms could also be set and managed through the web interface.

The clock itself works fine for this, but using the web interface would make it easier and faster, especially when changing alarms more often.

4. Multiple languages

It would be helpful if the clock could support multiple languages.

The clock is mostly self-explanatory, but it may also be used by people who are not comfortable with English. For them, having the interface in their own language could prevent accidental changes or wrong settings. (For example my parents.)

5. Individual alarm schedules

More flexible alarm schedules would be very useful.

I work shifts, so my schedule can be very irregular. Sometimes I am off during the week, sometimes I am not, sometimes I am off on the weekend as usual and I also have three different wake-up times. Because of that, it would be much better if alarms could be set more flexibly or even individually for each day.

6. App instead of only web interface

An app could be nice, but only if everything can still stay local.

I personally like that the clock works locally, so I would not want an app if it means relying on cloud services. But if a local app would be possible, it could make managing the clocks more comfortable, especially when using multiple clocks.
