Chi-town getting photo-Bombardiered.
New Moon in the Upper Peninsula means great skies for the Milky Way in the summer. This is native app, max night mode, tripod, star tracker. iPhone 16 Pro
I’ve got a borrowed Nikon D5300 with a 17-55mm lens and an iOptron Skyguider Pro. The camera is stock and the lenses are kit with it so I’m not expecting great things but what are my realistic expectations with this? I use Deep Sky Stacker, Siril, and Lr in my post processing work. I understand stacking and flats, darks, bias, etc. at an intermediate level.
My backyard at home is Bortle 4-5; where I’m going is Bortle 3-4.
Thanks!
Over a year on and I still love this camera! iPhone 16 Pro, native camera app. 48 MP ProRAW originals.
I never tire of the quality of camera in this iPhone.
Caught Jupiter, the Moon, Venus, and a meteor and then the moon in close up. iPhone 16 Pro and ProShot app. Telephoto hens with iPhone attachment for the moon shots.
Using the stacking feature and the ability to pause and reposition for better shots of the night skies. 1st pair: ISO 7750 2 second exposure 36 images stacked and aligned in the app. 2nd set: ISO 10000 4 second exposure 36 images stacked and aligned. 3rd pair: ISO 1600 60 second exposure 36 images stacked. f1.4 and f1.78.
55x telephoto and iPhone 16 Pro.
I learn more about night photography every night!
Took these with an interest in getting into astrophotography on a budget and being very portable. Still learning how to get better photos with it.
