Hot Take: My partner and I love Dog Days.
We actually get excited for it every year. Sure, it can be a bit tedious if you try to grind out all the pearls as quickly as you can, but it often becomes a nice break in gameplay and daily life that lets us relax. Plus, the whole scenario is fun and I'd love to see more lighthearted bits.
