Starting Monday, Parking in Princeton is getting more expensive

Starting on September 14th, 2026, street parking in Princeton is getting more expensive due to Ordinance #2026-29 passed in August.

The ordinance is designed to help counter the rise in operating and maintenance costs for the parking garages and meters, which rose 16% between 2021 and 2025.

Starting Monday, the new rates will be:

  • 30-minute metered spaces: $1.00 -> $1.25
  • 90-minute parking zones: $3.00 -> $3.50
  • Three-hour Parking Zone 6091: $1.75 -> $2.00/hr
  • New Three-hour Parking Zone 6090 : $2.50/hr
  • All-day parking zones: $1.00 -> $1.25/hr

The Spring street Garage maintains the 30 minutes of free parking, but the rate from 8AM to 10PM is going up to $2/hour, with the overnight fee going to a flat $5.

Not all parking is affected, however. The Princeton rail station (or the "Dinky") remains at $5 per day, after multiple advocacy groups campaigned to keep the price from being raised.
