Buy Nothing West Sac Group on Facebook

Just a wanted to recommend the Buy Nothing West Sac group on Facebook if you have stuff in decent condition that you want to get rid of for free.

I just listed a dozen items that didn't sell at my garage sale, included a single photo and my street address. Two thirds of it was gone within 30 minutes.

Saved me the trip to Goodwill (and the grumpy "We don't take that" hassles). And the stuff stays out of the landfill. And hopefully finds a good home here in West Sac.

Is FMLA Necessary if you have enough Sick Leave To Cover it?

Couple question for any helpful Admin folks out there.

I know the answer is probably "Ask your department's Admin Division", but the admin person assigned to help me has been unresponsive and I heard she left her position last week. Plus, I'm running out time until retirement starting next month.

  1. Is FMLA necessary if I have enough sick leave to cover the time off needed to take to care for a family member (in this case, a parent)? I'm retiring soon so I don't really need the "job protection"?

  2. Is there a max amount of sick leave I'm allowed to use to take care of a family member? My admin folks are claiming there is.

  3. When you're running out time until retirement (and you have a valid reason to use sick leave to take care of a family member) is there any prohibition on using sick leave for part of that?

They've got me filling out FMLA paperwork but my point of contact just left, I'm retiring and this whole thing feels like a waste of time for everyone involved.
