Naivety [Poem]

There were no more words
Left for my lips to tell you
So I whispered "stay"
On my eleventh I recall that
As you blew out my candle you promised
To fight this darkness by my side
To share in the yoke of my silhouette
For each night I awoke from my slumber
You were always there by my side
And my body saw reason to keep holding on
But now you have left me
Even though you promised
You would stay in in this fight with me
I know you do not owe me
Neither coin nor time nor presence
But you promised me
In my naivety I thought
A promise meant something
