Upcoming plans: launched to Runna Labs!

Hey everyone! I'm Mikey, Product Manager at Runna. Really excited to share that Upcoming Plans is now rolling out to most of you - you can finally schedule your next plan before your current one finishes.

What is Upcoming Plans?

Runna only really thinks about one plan at a time today. You finish, then you start another plan. But most of you aren't training for one thing. Your Plans brings all your training onto a single screen: what's active, what's coming next, what you've completed, and what you stepped away from.

How it works?

  • Stack upcoming plans — build your next plan and it queues up automatically to start when your current one ends. Add as many as you like, so you can map out a full year in one go.
  • Drafts for when you're not sure yet — building something that clashes with your current schedule? It saves as a draft. Compare a few options, sit on them, swap one to active whenever you're ready.
  • Everything in one place — completed plans link out to your plan overview and your plan replay. Plans you started and stepped away from show as incomplete, and you can edit them, pick them back up, or set them active again. Anything you don't want hanging around, you can remove.
  • Conflict handling — if a new plan overlaps something already scheduled, we'll tell you and let you choose between the new plan, your current one, and anything already queued. No silently overwriting your training.

On the feedback about re-entering your details

Plenty of you have told us it's frustrating to answer the same questions every time you build a plan — by now we should already know your history, your weekly schedule, where your fitness is at. That's completely fair, and it's something we've been actively working on. Over the next couple of weeks some of you will start seeing a different plan generation flow when your build next plan - one that starts from what we know about your training rather than a blank slate. It's rolling out gradually, so do look out for that!

How to get access to upcoming plans

If you haven't done these already:

  • Update the Runna app to v8.49.0 or later
  • Turn on Runna Labs — Profile → Runna Labs.
  • Open your Plans screen via the plan Tab.

We'd love your feedback!

This one's been asked for a lot, so please do give it a go and tell us how it holds up against how you actually plan your year. Drop anything odd in the comments — I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread and replying where I can! Thanks so much!

New and improved Audio Voices options! 🎧

Hey! I'm Mikey, on the product team at Runna. Really excited to share something that's been a long time coming — we've just launched new voices for audio cues in Runna Labs.

What's changing?
We've heard you - loud and clear - our current voices sound robotic. It's one of the most consistent pieces of feedback we receive, and honestly, it's fair. When you're mid-run and relying on audio to guide your effort, a flat mechanical voice doesn't exactly inspire you to keep going.
We've integrated a new TTS module to give you two new voices to choose from — male and female — that are hopefully more natural, warm, and just generally nicer to run with. And for our international runners, great news: the new voices perform well across all of our supported languages, which we know has been a real pain point. 🇫🇷🇪🇸🇮🇹🇯🇵🇩🇪🇳🇱🇧🇷

How to try it:

  • Make sure you're on v8.38.1(iOS only for now)
  • Head to Profile → Runna Labs and opt in
  • Go to Recording Settings → Voice Settings and pick your preferred voice

Note: currently only available on iPhone running iOS 26 - Android support coming soon!

A couple of things to be aware of:
We're aware of a bug where the first few cues cut very slightly short in some cases - we're on it and it should improve over time. Wanted to be upfront rather than have you think it's your phone!
Also, if you can't immediately see the voice options in your Recording Settings, don't worry - the voices need a moment to download in the background. Just keep Runna open and they'll appear shortly, no action needed from you.

We'd love your feedback
Super excited to hear your thoughts in the comments below, I'll be reading and responding to everything I can. Thanks so much!

Hey everyone! I'm Mikey, Product Manager at Runna. I'm really excited to share that Customisable Workout Screens on Apple watch is now live in Runna Labs for testing.

What is Customisable Workout Screens?

Right now, every Runna Apple Watch user sees the exact same fixed metrics during a workout - no matter their goals, ability, or training style. We know that's frustrating. Some of you live and die by heart rate, others need pace front and centre, and many of you have been swiping between screens mid-interval just to find the number you actually care about. This feature gives you control over what you see during a run, so your watch screen works for you.

What's included / How it works:

  • Customisable templates - for Free Runs and Structured Workouts. Each has optional metric slots you can fill with whatever data matters most to you: pace, heart rate, distance, time, cadence, and more. Build a screen that actually matches how you train.
  • Full control over your screen carousel - remove default screens you never look at, add custom screens per workout type, and reorder everything so your most important screens are always a swipe away.
  • Wide range of metrics to choose from - pick from pace metrics (current, average, lap,), heart rate, distance, time, and cadence. Mix and match across your screens so the right number is always in front of you at the right moment.

How to access it?

  • Runna Labs turned on (Profile → Runna Labs)
  • Update to v8.34.0
  • Swipe right to your settings on Runna apple watch app and scroll down to "customise workout screens"

We'd love your feedback

We know this has been hugely requested from our Apple Watch users so please do try it out! If you notice anything odd drop it in the comments below - I’ll be responding to everything I can.

And finally, a HUGE Kudos to Juan in the Recordings team for leading on this!
