HOMELESS CAMP ON FIRE IN ROANOKE

Early this morning, Tuesday, May 5th, heavy black smoke was seen rising as scanner traffic and witnesses reported a fire at an unattended homeless camp in the woods in the 200 block of Wells Ave. in Roanoke City

Initial reports indicate some belongings and parts of the wooded area caught fire.

Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene. No official word yet on injuries or the exact cause.
