NEED FEEDBACK: Building a tool and not sure it's the right thing
I'm building a tool and I can't tell anymore if it's the right thing to build, so I'm hoping you guys can help me see it clearly.
It's called StandIn: https://www.standin.co/
The tool answers for people in their chat and email when they're not available, using the work they've already done as their personal knowledge base.
The idea is that you should be able to sit in a meeting and pay attention to it, close your laptop at 6 and stop thinking about work, and take a week off without checking Slack from the beach "just in case."
When you're the one building it, getting a straight answer is hard. Friends say it's a great idea, people in the space are polite, and none of that tells me if I'm solving something real or something only I care about.
So I'd like to know:
- is this something you've experienced?
- Is it something people actually want or need, or have most of you made peace with always being on and it's fine?
- If you've figured out how to fully switch off, how'd you do it?
Be brutal, I'd rather hear it now than six months from now.
