How often do you get mammograms?

At what age did you start getting mammograms? How many have you had and how often do you get them?

I am 41 and have had about 6 mammograms beginning at age 34 (mostly diagnostic and due to call backs). I worry about the harm the radiation is doing…does this seem excessive?

Feel like I have had too many mammograms by age 41

I’m having a lot of anxiety about how many diagnostic mammograms I’ve had at a relatively young age, and I’m wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience.

My history:
Age 34: Diagnostic mammogram – clear
Age 37: Diagnostic mammogram, followed by a callback diagnostic mammogram about a month later
Age 40: Screening mammogram → callback diagnostic mammogram → scheduled for a biopsy, but when I went in, the mass could no longer be found. Now I’m due for my 6-month follow-up diagnostic mammogram.

I absolutely plan to go to my 6-month follow-up because I know it’s important. I think what I’m struggling with is the feeling that my breasts have been exposed to a lot of radiation over the years.
For those of you who have had callbacks or dense breasts, how often do you end up getting mammograms? Has anyone else had multiple diagnostic mammograms or repeated callbacks, particularly at a young age? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences because my anxiety is getting the best of me.

I feel sick to my stomach

Hi guys, my referral got approved and I am so anxious. Im scared of complications and I’m TERRIFIED of coming out of anesthesia and hearing that they found cancer or something that could be cancer. I’ve had blood in stool on and off for years, more frequent in the last few months, mucus and constipation and upper left abdominal discomfort. Jesus is the only thing keeping me from having my heart just jump out of my chest or straight up not go through with it. Just needed to say this somewhere.

Anyone been putting off colonoscopy for years?

Hi everyone, I am 41 year old (F). About 3 years ago I had an instance of bleeding and then since then it’s happened maybe 1 or 2 times a year. I had asked my dr for a colonoscopy, she didn’t seem like it was necessary but referred me anyway. I never went through with it. Now in the last 4 months, I’ve had mucus, bleeding once a month, a dull pain in my left upper abdomen, and constipation. I got another referral for a colonoscopy yesterday and plan to go. But I am just so upset thinking if something is wrong, I let it spread.

Did anyone else with symptoms like mine put off testing and were still ok? Anyone with my symptoms who ended up having benign issues? Feeling alone.
