Performance Reviews
Are managers able to see all the individual category ratings that each of their employees list on the manager performance feedback? I figure they’ll be able to see the written feedback but not sure. I am skeptical about whether it’s safe to actually provide honest feedback since part of it is negative, but I’m afraid that could impact how they rate me in return. If I give my manager an honest 2 star rating in one of the categories (3/4s in all other categories) would they be informed that it was me? Any advice or insight on how to go about that?
Also, in my performance review last year, I provided a list of ~7 EOs I worked very closely with throughout the year as options to request performance feedback for me, and my manager only chose one and requested feedback from several others that I barely worked with and randomly helped with one-off tasks. Considering someone I barely work with wouldn’t be aware of the depth of my skills/performance, is this something worth pushing back on? I guess what I’m asking is if it’s common or worth negotiating with your manager final ratings in your performance appraisal. I disagreed with the rating I got last year and didn’t push back but I’m not sure if it’s even worth trying if it’s already decided before that meeting.
