Are there any circumstances where you can be induced in a private room at Holles street?

As above - I spent some time in the antenatal ward recently where other women were being induced and i was just there for monitoring. I found it very distressing and I was on the verge of a panic attack most the time.

Is there any way I can be induced in a private room as a public patient? I’m likely to be induced and I’m freaking out about having to go back there.

NMH Domino scheme - what happens if you go past your due date?

I’m booked in for an appointment in Holles street at 40+3 (unless baby arrives themselves in the meantime), but just wondering what usually happens at this appointment if anyone has gone past their due date with the domino scheme in Holles street and knows?

If you went overdue and didn’t get induced, when did baby arrive? Or if you were induced how many days over?

39 weeks and settling in to be pregnant for another 3ish weeks as I’m hoping to not do an induction unless there’s any risks to myself or baby in the meantime! Just looking to hear from people how far they went over? Very ready to meet our baby but really want my body to go into labour naturally!

Swelling in hands after/during a walk

Will preface this by saying I have my 38 week midwife appointment on Wednesday and will absolutely be bringing it up but for peace of mind in the meantime (or not maybe haha) has anyone else experience swelling in their hands from walking?

My hands get very swollen while I’m out doing a 30 mins - 1 hour walk and I’m 38 weeks pregnant so I’m not sure if this is just normal swelling or a red flag.

When I wake up in the morning my hands are a little swollen too but goes away as soon as I’m up and about.

Is this just normal pregnancy swelling?

Thank you 🙏

37 weeks pregnant - is peeing every 2-3 hrs at night normal?

Just wondering if anyone else in the late third trimester has to pee roughly every 2 hours at night time?

I’m also very thirsty only at night time (not thirsty during day but still drink normally ~ 1.5litres) and I’m starting to worry it could be GD. Kicking myself I didn’t say anything at my 37 week appointment today but the GP tested my urine and it was fine.

Anyone have the Babylo You & Me Crib Cashmere from Smyths

Seems good value at €60. We need something for downstairs for the baby to sleep in the sitting room and were originally going to use the buggy bassinet but have changed our mind now that it’s set up so we’re looking for something cheap and cheerful.

Have checked adverts etc for secondhand but by the time you buy a new mattress we’re not far off the cost of this crib.

Illness benefit disallowed? (Pregnancy related sign off from work)

I’m 36 weeks pregnant and got signed off from work by my GP during the week until maternity leave starts in 3 weeks.

I submitted my illness benefit claim on MyWelfare.ie yesterday with the start date for the illness benefit as given by my GP but I got a message this morning saying my application has been disallowed but no further details yet.

Has anyone else had this issue? I’m wondering if it’s because my GP may not have submitted the cert on their end yet?

At what point in pregnancy do they start looking at your ninny?

34 weeks now and want to be prepared for the appointment where they want to start having a look down below 🙈 I always shower before my appointment just to be safe but would like to tidy up a bit down there too prior to any investigations 😂

Can (domino) midwives sign you off work sick?

I’m 34 weeks pregnant and just exhausted… I want to finish work now and think I’d benefit from the rest leading up to birth.

I have my next domino midwife appointment in a few days - can they sign you off or does it have to be your GP? I’m planning to ask anyway as my own GP has been a bit reluctant when I’ve mentioned finishing work early but just thought I’d check if anyone knows if the midwives can do it.

Were you bored when you started mat leave?

I want to get signed off at the end of this month. If I end up overdue I’ll have about 6 weeks between finishing work and baby appearing if I go to 42 weeks.

I’m very ready to finish work, my head just isn’t in it anymore and I’m not sleeping well so it’s tough to get through the work day but I am kind of worried I’ll regret taking 2-3 weeks sick leave before my mat leave starts two weeks before the due date and that I’ll be bored.

Thoughts?

My GP is away the week my 36 week appointment falls. She’s seeing me the week before instead but it means I’ll have a gap in appointments between 35 weeks and my next appointment with the domino scheme at 37 weeks.

At this gestation should I be worried about a gap of about two weeks between by 35 week appointment with the GP and 37 week appointment with the domino scheme?

Hi 👋

Holles St has in person breastfeeding classes held monthly in person - has anyone attended one? Was it any good?

I’m on the domino scheme and will be doing an in person class with them at a later stage, but I really want to give myself the best chance of breastfeeding so I’m wondering if I should attend both.

For context I’ve been on Cariban for my entire pregnancy but I’ve reduced to two tablets a day (from 4) since about 26 weeks.

The last few days I’ve found the nausea is getting bad again in the afternoon and evening.

Did anyone else experience this?

I’m wondering should I up my Cariban dosage again and maybe take a tablet around lunch time to help with the late afternoon and evening. The food aversions have also returned.

I kind of heard nausea can come back but I thought being on Cariban already it wouldn’t really impact me.
