Escalator experience

I was talking to my mechanic today and the topic of working on escalators came up. He had mentioned he worked on them as a 2nd year apprentice, which was about 20 years ago. For those of you that work on them, do you like it? He encouraged me to try to get escalator experience. How would I go about trying to get with a repair guy that works on them? Or is that not in my control, and it’s just something that happens by chance?

Saving for retirement

Anybody max out their 401k and IRA during their apprenticeship? I want to save as much as possible before I have kids. I could max out both but I’d be living pretty frugal with house payments and car payments and what not. I’m tempted to live frugal for a year or 2. I’m 26 with no kids and have a good chunk of money in a brokerage account that I could use if needed. Interested to hear what others did.
