I’m having an issue with Waze freezing on my Volvo XC90 infotainment system. It keeps locking up or becoming unresponsive while I’m driving, and it’s pretty frustrating.

I’ve tried a few basic things, but haven’t had any luck fixing it yet.

Has anyone else dealt with this or found a reliable fix? Any help would be appreciated.

I just went through the process of setting up the webOS Dev Manager and thought I’d share my experience because I definitely got stuck at the beginning by downloading the wrong thing.

At first, I downloaded the “Source code.zip” from GitHub, thinking that was what I needed. Turns out, that’s just the raw project files and not something you can actually run easily unless you want to build everything manually (which I definitely didn’t).

What I did wrong

I wasted time trying to figure out why nothing would install, until I realised I needed the pre-built installer, not the source code.

What actually worked

1. Download the correct installer I went back to the GitHub Releases page and looked under Assets for the proper file:
   • Windows → .msi file (example: webOS.Dev.Manager_1.13.3_x64_en-US.msi)
   • macOS → .dmg file
   • Linux → .deb or .AppImage
2. Install it properly
   • Windows: just ran the .msi and followed the setup wizard
   • macOS: opened the .dmg and dragged it into Applications
   • Linux: for .AppImage, I had to enable “Allow executing file as program” before running it
3. Connect to the TV Once installed, I opened the app and clicked “Add Device”. Then I entered: Important: both the TV and PC need to be on the same Wi-Fi network.
   • IP address from the Developer Mode app on the TV
   • Passphrase shown on the TV

What I can do now

After connecting, I can browse apps inside the manager and install things like:

• Homebrew Channel
• YouTube AdFree

All with just a couple of clicks.

Honestly, the biggest mistake was downloading the source code instead of the actual installer. Once I fixed that, the rest was pretty smooth.

If anyone else is stuck on the same step, hopefully this saves you some time.

I’ve been trying to get apps sideloaded natively onto my 2025 Volvo XC90 with Google Built-in, but I keep hitting security restrictions and I’m wondering if anyone has found a working method yet.

What I’m trying to do:

• Install apps directly onto the car’s infotainment system
• Preferably through APK sideloading
• No extra hardware, Android boxes, or using my phone as the main device

The issue:
The 2025 Volvo models seem heavily locked down. When trying to enable Developer Options by tapping the build number, I get messages like:

• “Option not available”
• “Advanced permissions needed”

Unknown sources / APK installs also seem blocked at the system level.

Things I already tried:

• Dropbox + AnExplorer method
  • Uploaded APK
  • Renamed to .pdf to bypass restrictions
  • Renamed back to .apk inside the car
  • Install still blocked
• xManager
  • Installed manager app
  • System blocked installation of the secondary app
• Direct browser downloads
  • Tried downloading APKs directly from browser
  • Install trigger gets blocked

What I think is happening:

• Volvo hard-locked newer AAOS systems
• Google Play Protect / signature verification blocks modified APKs
• Developer Mode and ADB may be disabled entirely

Main question:
Has anyone successfully:

• Enabled Developer Mode on a 2025 Volvo?
• Used ADB on these newer models?
• Found a sideload workaround?
• Accessed engineering/service menus?
• Downgraded infotainment firmware?
• Installed any non-Play Store apps successfully?

Not looking to brick the car obviously, just trying to see if there’s any known path left on the newer XC90s. Any help or info would be appreciated.
