Protestants a question?

Hey so I assume this will be taken down, I don’t want to attack anyone nor am I saying all Protestants are bad, but I’ve noticed that many Catholic church’s and shrines, and statues are defaced and disrespected all over the world by Protestants, and others. examples spray painting statues of Mary, peeing on alters, streaking in churches. I assume these people would be outliers rather than the average Protestants, but I’m curious on the Protestant view on why the Catholic Church is attacked but not other religions. I understand that some Protestants don’t consider Catholics Christians but why come after Catholics but not other non believers from false religions. I never hear news of Protestants defacing Hindu temple or Muslims mosques, or Jewish synagogues. Maybe cause I’m not from those faith so I just don’t see it happen, again not attacking anyone I fully understand bad apple do justify stereotyping a whole group, and I assume Protestant churches suffer similar defacing a from non believers, but I’m curious what you all think.

Why do Protestants focus religious intolerance on Catholics

Why when I see a Marian site or statue defaced or someone streaking in a church, peeing on an alter, it’s protestants or Muslims, but I never hear Protestants defacing Muslims site or mosques, or Hindu site or temples. Like why focus on your bothers in Christ, if you want to a deface religious sites go target a false religion. I’m not promoting attacking religious sites just curious why we are targeted by fellow Christian’s often it seem.

Intercession vs mediation

Hi everyone Catholic here with a question, I asked the other day the difference between earthly and heavenly intercession, and got some good answers. Again without offering any Catholic views I am curious how Protestants see the difference between earthly intercession, between you and a friend, and Jesus as the one mediator. So I’ve heard it said why pray to a dead person when you can pray directly to Jesus because he is our one mediator between god and man, and I get that. But it’s also seems to be acceptable in Protestant circles to prayer for each other, say your friend has cancer, you’d pray for his healing.

So how is that kind of earthly intercession not encroaching on Jesus role as our one mediator.
Thank you in advance for your response, I am going to avoid replying to avoid any suspicion of ulterior motives. So thank you and god bless

Intercession

Hi everyone, I have a question about the Protestant view. Let me preface that I’m asking a question out of curiosity, I am not trying to gotcha anybody or anything I probably won’t even respond so thank you in advance.

As the title says the question is about intercession, as a catholic we believe certain things about intercession amongst believers on earth and in heaven. (I do know what I believe but out of respect I’m not posting Catholic views). Most Protestants or non denominational people I’ve spoken too see to reject prayers to saints in heaven asking for their intercession, I think there are some Protestants that believe the saint in heaven interceded for us but can’t hear our prayers they just do it. I’ve heard some say Jesus is our only mediator why pray to anyone else. But I’ve never heard someone reject offered prayers. For example talking to a friend about going through a hard time, the friend says oh I’ll pray for you. People say thank you not don’t do that Jesus is my mediator.

So my question is what’s the difference between earthly intersession and heavenly. What is the difference between asking a friend or family member to pray for you, and asking say Saint Peter to pray for you.

Thank you again for the responses I look forward to learning what yall think

Question on baptism

Hello everyone I am a Catholic with a question. as I am curious what the answers will be. First off I am not looking to gotcha or convert or argue with anyone, I have an understanding of my question through a catholic lens I am just curious what people from other denominations think. I’ll ask the question then give hypothetical just for a framework for the question. Please answer just the question and or the hypothetical thanks.

The question can you baptize yourself? and why or why not is it ok. Let’s go with a hypothetical to get people on the same page. A young person has never heard the gospel in their life they don’t know who Jesus is, and they get shipwrecked on a deserted island they find a Bible and read it are convinced and wants to be baptized. (Are arguing here about baptism being Slavic here or anything). Can this stranded person baptize themselves or not and why.

Advice for dealing with my pastor

So like the title says I could use some advice, the pastor of my church come about a year ago to replace our old priest who got too old and sick. He’s a nice enough man, but when I first went to him for confession he advised me from being to zealous either for God or away from god kinda right in the middle is a sweet spot, which I took as be Luke warm. Since than I haven’t loved his homilies and several of my emails to the parish office asking things like (is the any opportunity for Eucharist adoration time, or can we have daily mass later in the day if there were people interested.). Have been met with short responses like hopefully or, go find other parishes that fit your needs. And today at confession he told me that I shouldn’t listen to extreme priest who say things like contraception is always bad and that maybe the church will change its mind. Which him straight up contradicting church teach bother me a lot. I know that even bad priest or one in state of mortal sin still conduct valid sacraments. I don’t necessarily want to leave the parish there is one priest there I do like, and the parish has a school attached that is like to keep the option open for my kids, plus the church is 2 min from my house. I would maybe report him to the bishop but we currently are an empty sea, Any advice would be great thanks.

It is finished

So I was reading the gospel of John, specifically the passion. I noticed Jesus says “it is finished” as his last word. What is finished? It’s not salvation right that come with Christ resurrection and accession, we are baptized into his death and are raised with him. I’m just curious what everyone thinks he means by it is finished? God bless!

Bible interpretation

So I was just thinking and if the Bible is subject to personal interpretation and each individual’s walk with Christ, is anything objecting true in the Bible? And are there things not explicitly mentioned like the trinity that can be denied as personal interpretation? And if so can that individual be called Christian still. How far can someone go with their personal interpretation?

Some advice please

So I have a coworker and friend that is nondenominational with a background as a Baptist. We were talking theology and ect, end up discussing baptism. He told me that he’s been baptized 3 times never felt a change and that baptism isn’t part of salvation. Obviously that wrong. I asked him what about 1 peter 3: 21 saying baptism saves, he said no that’s wrong. I than asked about John 3:3 where Jesus say you must be born of water a spirit, he said you throw out the water part. Any advice that I can use to help point him in the right direction or is it time to shake the dust from my boots and move on.
