Hello, I now use fedora but after trying voidlinux I saw that it might be my distro to stop the distro hop, but:

1- is there a tutorial for what to do after installing base void

2- how to solve some issues when first time setting up the distro

(One of which was the dbus and elogind/seatd confusion, user dirs and XDG_RUNTIME_DIR, happend on a VM too...)

3- is XBPS that good for real, I've had some concerns of it having small packages

4- I'll use wayland, so if there's something specific tell me about it

I'm just a first time visitor, so I may have mistaken in something

انا كنت بستخدم مدير نوافذ sway من فترة وحولت لهايبرلاند

التجربة حلوة الصراحة بس بسأل ازاي تخصصو شكل ووظيفة البرنامج مثلا لو عمل popup او لو حبيت تعمل رايس مثلا

انا عايز اجرب ابدا اخصصه بدون dotfiles فهل دول مناسبين

Waybar, rofi دول اللي خصصتهم

الباقي لا عرفت اخصصهم وممكن منزلتهمش زي بتاع الاشعارات

Hello everyone,

As the title said, i've tried a lot of distros

Such as: Fedora, Arch, Endeavour, Artix (dinit and runit), opensuse, and void linux, all of which had his own issue

Arch based needed a custom config for the wifi driver (rtw8822ce card), which i didn't have it and didn't have time for it, although I like being able to use more apps with AUR and me now eyeing to try arch back but with being kinda not manual, but I still don't know how

I was giving void a try, but had the same issue as Arch based, and still wasn't that perfect yet

Fedora is not bad, but 3GB of idle RAM and me not knowing other than fedora KDE and Gnome makes me a lil uncomfortable about the distro

Opensuse is not bad too, but took a long time to install, and it had X11 (My device isn't good with X11)

So all i want is:

1-a good *experience* with the distro (even if it's a distro I've tried) because it may be a problem with the way I use since it took me a while to understand some linux tools

2- distro that is kinda lightweight and battery efficient (less than 3GB total on idle, added total because of the people saying: it's for caching bruh)

3- if it's a manual distro, what apps or services I must have for an intel laptop (i7 1255U)

4- I've also knew about a WM (window manager) thing, but since I'm a student I may look it up too

5- I don't know a lot about theming, so I may try to do so...

انا حاليا ابحث عن توزيعة
تكون شوية خفيفة وبسيطة ويكون اعدادها مش بالصعوبة دي
لاقيت انه ممكن اجرب debian sid فهل حد عنده تجربة مع التوزيعة دي يقول لي
ولو حد عنده اقتراح توزيعة برضو تناسب البطارية بمستوى debian يبقى شكرا

انا بستعمل فيدورا كيدي عشان اجرب بعض التوزيعات

بس دلوقتي لاقيت مخرجني بالكامل من chromium بالحساب بالمواقع

كل ده عشان عايز باسوورد kwallet انا معملتوش

وفي تطبيق discover بيعلق موووت وانا معدتش طليق كدا، مع اني عايز تجربة بدون طرفية في تنزيل التطبيقات + في النسخ اللي فاتت زي 42 و 43 اللي جربتهم مكانش فيهم العيب ده

حاليا انا معظم التصاميم اللي عملتها مكانتش بتاعتي

بس قلت اجرب اعمل رايس بنفسي

1- ايه افضل ثيم للتطبيقات اقدر اعمله لو بفضل اللون السماوي/الازرق الفاتح وبعض تدرجاته

(مع العلم اني ناوي استعمل خلفية windows 10 ) لانها عجباني

2- ايه افضل تخصيص لpopups للنت والبلوتوث ل waybar زي بتاعت ويندوز وماك

3- هل افضل استعمال مكتبة qt ولا gtk في window manager مع العلم انه مش فارق معايا الواجهة ولا الشكل الافتراضي

4- ايه افضل ثيم بس للايقونات زي شكل الfolders وicons التطبيقات وما الى ذالك

5- ازاي ابدا في waybar هل اكتب الكود بنفسي ولا اعدل بشكل كبير على كونفيج بسيط

Hello everyone, so I've used linux for a while, and I wanted to try Artix
after knowing more about it I decided to use dinit as my init system, but I have some questions
1- I tried using it in live mode, how can I switch my session to wayland since XLibre caused some issues for me
2- is there any way to get my Audio working, since it wasn't working
3- as a beginner in the non-systemd world, can you give me some recommendations to get everything set up and working

**UPDATE**
after typing "nomdeset" in grub menu it worked (live os)
still the screen is 720p but it's still a live system

**2nd UPDATE**
Finally installed it as a main OS, Got Audio working, and selected sway as my WM, so far so good

عندي كام سؤال قبل ما اشوفه
1- أي init system هيكون افضل واسرع فيه
2- هل "كل" التطبيقات سواءا الAUR او pacman او flatpak هتشتغل بدون مشاكل؟
3- هل هوا مختلف عن Arch ولا زيه في كل حاجة تقريبا
