Kansas City voters to decide in April whether to approve sales taxes that would fund monorail system

It’s good to see Kansas City wanting to expand its public transit system, but I have many questions as to why a monorail was selected over a standard metro. Monorails require specialized trains and track, they are proprietary systems, subject to vendor lock-in, and are gadgetbahns if built where a standard metro would do just as good if not better. If this is a situation where it’s monorail or nothing then that would be the preferred option.

Renderings released for ONE Transit commuter system for Oklahoma City metropolitan area

AI images aside this transit project is long overdue. One can only hope this project is implemented in full and doesn’t get scaled back or outright dropped. Additional details of the masterplan can be found on the official site: https://www.onetransit.org
