Where to get a Bipap?

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction because I'm struggling to find a BiPAP machine in the UK.

I've recently started using an auto CPAP after a private sleep study, but after looking at my OSCAR data and speaking to a sleep advisor, I think my issue may be more UARS than classic obstructive sleep apnoea. My AHI is quite low, but my RDI is much higher and I still wake up exhausted despite using CPAP.

I'm being referred to the NHS sleep clinic, but as most of you probably know, that could take months. I'd really like to speed things up by trying a BiPAP myself to see if it makes a difference, rather than waiting ages while feeling awful every day.
The problem is I can barely find anywhere that sells or rents BiPAP machines. Most places only seem to have CPAPs, and the few BiPAPs I have found are around £2,000, which I just can't afford just yet.

Does anyone know:

•	Where in the UK I can rent a BiPAP for a reasonable price?

•	Anywhere that sells refurbished or second-hand machines?

•	Whether there are any older models that are still good but much cheaper?

•	Which model you'd recommend for someone who suspects UARS (rather than needing ASV or anything for central apnoea)?

I've seen machines like the ResMed AirCurve 10 VAuto mentioned a lot, but they seem almost impossible to find.

I'd really appreciate any recommendations or advice from people who've been in a similar situation. Thanks!

Mild AHI but high RDI/RERAs – could this be causing my symptoms?

Hi everyone,

I'm 26M and have been feeling awful for months despite supposedly only having mild sleep apnea.
My sleep study showed:

**• AHI:** \~5

**• RDI:** \~15

From what I've read, the higher RDI suggests I have a lot of RERAs/UARS. Since starting CPAP and looking at my OSCAR data, it also seems to show a high number of RERAs.

My symptoms are:

• Constant exhaustion

• Waking unrefreshed

• Brain fog

• Heavy eyes

• Dizziness/lightheadedness

• Waking with a racing heart sometimes

• Anxiety/on edge

I've only been using CPAP for a few days, and only for short periods because I've been struggling to tolerate it. I'm comfortable and start with around 7 cmH₂O, but when it increases towards 10 cmH₂O I often wake up feeling like I'm can't breathe properly and end up taking the mask off. I turned off soft start and have the softPAP option on 2

Last nights details this was for 2 hours :

AHI: 1.76/hour
RERA: 12.31/hour
Clear Airway (CA): 1.17/hour
Obstructive Apneas (OA): 0.00/hour
Hypopneas (H): 0.59/hour
Large Leak: 0%
Leak time over redline: 0%

Cpap is prisma SMART MAX

Mask is F5+ Full Face Mask large and fits well

Has anyone else had a mild AHI but much higher RDI/RERAs and felt this bad? Did CPAP eventually help, or did you need pressure changes, BiPAP, or something else?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Really confused - APAP

Good morning!

Last night I put the mask on and managed to fall asleep for the first time!

But for some reason when I woke up this morning my machine was off

My app shows no leakage, and I had the mask on still when I woke up so slept with it on still

Extremely confused as to why it turned off in the night?

Machine is Prisma SmartMax AutoCPAP and mask is F5+ Full face mask Large size

I was finding it so hard trying to sleep with it but was so happy when I realised I had worn it all night but turns out I didn’t even get the therapy

I was diagnosed with mild apnea, oxygen levels stayed over 94% in sleep study but

AHI: 5.4 events/hour
RDI: 15.1 events/hour
