Hi, I don't have a home lab YET. But I bought a VPS and want to learn more about it. One thing that I found that is really useful for me is setting up a VPN on it. From what I understand, I will be able to have a secure tunnel connection from, let's say, a public hotel WiFi to my VPS and do my private banking stuff there. Does this mean:

1. The public hotel WiFi will only be able to see my IP, but not what's transferred. Then the actual connection is between the VPS and the internet?
2. If 1 is true, doesn't this mean I just have to trust my VPS? (This question might sound redundant, but I just want to confirm. Definitely sounds better than trusting the public hotel WiFi)
