I feel like I encountered a Cheat code (performance vs Eco mode)

So, recently, I realized my CPU climbed to +90°C on certains games, which made me pretty worried. Cleaning and changing the thermal paste didn't seem to work so I tried turning on the "Power saver" mode to see what happened.
The effect ? My CPU rarely go past 60°C and I have seen a 5-10FPS loss. Which is honestly nothing ! Like If I remove the FPS counter I hardly see any difference in any game I've tried.
Knowing this, is there any reason to not use Power saver mode ? Less temp means more longevity right ? I don't really know !
Honestly it feels too good to be true, so maybe someone more tech savy than me can explaine exactly what is happening ?
