Where to find interesting articles

Hi all,

I was hoping to start an RSS feed of trusted websites or Substack feeds that have interesting topics. I know the rogues and Steve mention the websites where they get their articles they talk about each week but I can’t remember any of them right now.

My question to you all:

What websites would be good to follow to read about topics similar to what the SGU discusses? They don’t necessarily have to be skeptical. But science based and generally readable to the average person would be preferred. I’d like to casually read about topics in my free time vs doing a deep dive on a topic each time I read.

Thanks in advance!

Follow up on the school teacher saga

Have the SGU circled back on what came to be of Jay’s daughter’s science teacher who said we didn’t land on the moon?

I listen weekly but don’t recall hearing what the final outcome ended up being.

Merv13 filters and box fan

Anybody been around town and found merv13 filters and 20 inch box fans in stock? About to head out to purchase some to make a Corsi-Rosenthal Box and don’t want to bouncing from store to store if they’re sold out most places. Trying to keep money local instead of Amazon if possible.

Free NFL Redraft league

Hi all,

I’m wanting to get a local fantasy league set up with people who enjoy fantasy football and occasionally getting together to watch games.

It will be hosted on Sleeper. Planning to get at minimum 8, but up to 12 people to join before we draft.

If there’s enough interest, we may do a local meet up and have drinks and draft at the same time, but tbd.

Comment below if you’re interested and I’ll send you the link to join!

Why do a bench rest after shaping?

Honest question, what does pre-shaping and resting for 30 minutes do that wasn’t accomplished in BF, or that won’t be accomplished during the final proof in a banneton?

Re-certifying income, when to do it?

Hi all, I'm wondering how quickly recertifying income is updated once submitted when I update it on studentaid.gov?

Some background: I have been in a $0 payment with my student loans since 2019, and my recertification date is coming up on July 29, 2026.

Should I wait until July 28th or even the 29th to submit for recertification, or should I do it earlier in the month to give myself a buffer to make sure that it is submitted without getting a penalty? My income has gone up significantly since my last recertification in 2019, and I'm trying to avoid an unnecessary extra month of a high payment.

I know that the Department of Education is more understaffed now than before, so I thought recertifying early may be required in order to make sure It's processed by my due date, but maybe this is incorrect thinking.

Alternatively, I was thinking that as long as the document is digitally submitted on or before July 29th, then I should be good.

I'm interested to hear other people's experiences with this!
