A few random questions from '30

I'm an incoming freshman who has a few questions about things concerning dorms and placement tests. I haven't been able to find the answer to these yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • How often are room checks if any? Someone told me bulletin boards aren't allowed in dorm rooms but when I see room tours or a glimpse into rooms I see that people have them. Are they actually not allowed and how strict are these guidelines

  • I've also heard there's housing portal astrology to see what type of room you'll get. (single, double, quad) is there any truth to this? I know housing comes out next monday anyways but as someone whos traveling and won't come back until the week of move in the earlier I have to gather my stuff and accommodate, the better

  • For language placement tests I took spanish in highschool but I plan on studying another language that's not availabe for placement tests. Do I still have to do the spanish one just in case I'm not able to take that other language, just to see where I'll place?

Class of 2030

Incoming freshman in the fall with a few questions about housing! It would be greatly appreciated if someone could answer

- Outside of accommodations, is housing truly random?

- How much of the form especially the additional comments sections, is taken into consideration?

- is there really that large of a disparity between the newer dorms and older ones?
