Got Grade 4 CSEC Math for Land Surveying at UTech Can I do Foundation Math instead of deferring?

Hey everyone,

I just checked my preliminary CSEC results and ended up getting a Grade 4 in General Mathematics.
I hold a conditional offer for the Bachelor of Science in Land Surveying and Geographic Information Science at UTech for this upcoming semester, but standard matriculation requires a CSEC Math pass (Grades I–III).

I’ve already reached out to UTech Admissions to ask about available pathways, but while I wait on an official response, I wanted to ask if anyone here has gone through a similar situation:

  1. Does UTech usually allow you to start Year 1 conditionally if you take an internal developmental course (like Foundation Mathematics) or sit a Math Proficiency Test?

  2. Or do they strictly require you to defer and resit CSEC Math in January before you can start degree-level coursework?

Would love to hear from anyone who went through this or knows if Admissions is flexible with math requirements.
Thanks!

UTech Conditional Offer + Grade 4 CSEC Math (Land Surveying): Options?

Hey everyone,

I just checked my preliminary CSEC results and got a Grade IV in General Mathematics.
I hold a conditional offer for the Bachelor of Science in Land Surveying and Geographic Information Science at UTech for this upcoming semester, but CSEC Math requires a Grade I–III.

I’ve already reached out to UTech Admissions to ask about pathways, but while I wait on an official response, I wanted to check if anyone here has experienced this:

  1. Does UTech usually allow you to start Year 1 conditionally if you take an internal developmental math course (like Foundation Math) or take a Math Proficiency Test?

  2. Or do they strictly require you to defer and resit CSEC Math in January before you can start?
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who went through this or knows how lenient admissions or the Faculty of the Built Environment is with math requirements!

Thanks in advance!

Anyone applied to 138SL using a UWI offer, but ended up going UTech and staying at 138 anyway

Hey guys, quick question for anyone who’s done this or knows someone who has.
I initially applied to 138 Student Living as a UWI applicant. Long story short, plans changed and I’m attending UTech now, but I still want to keep my spot at 138SL since campus is literally right down the road in Papine.

I thought that the Jamaican national id was accepted everywhere as identification

This morning on May 8, 2026 , I went to Browns Town High School to pick up my CSEC timetable and was told that my national id can’t be used as identification to enter the exam room. Even though, Browns Town community college is also a CSEC center that accepted my national id as proof of identification.Make it make sense
