Recommendations on lines against the Scotch and Scotch Gambit
I've recently begun learning 1.e4 e5 from the Black side, and as a lifelong Sicilian player it's a bit painful, but very instructive. My main goal is to learn to play very solid and equalize, then vie for an advantage. I actually really enjoy the Berlin and its resulting positions after 3.Bb5, maybe because it comes easy to me, and the Italian is very manageable (where I play 3...Nf6 4.d6 Bc5 opting for a quick ...0-0 and ...d5 against the Giuoco Pianissimo (and 6...Bd7 7.Qe2 Be7 in the Polerio Defence)). I've also really enjoyed neat lines such as the Caro Gambit against the Ponziani (as a former Benko player this positional sort of pawn sacrifice appeals to me).
What I'm really struggling to find something against though, is the Scotch and the Scotch Gambit. So I'm hoping for any 1...e5 players to share their wisdom, pet line, or just general approach to these openings specifically - and, if there are any other lines similar to the Caro Gambit in style that appears after 1.e4 e5 then I'd love to hear about them.
Thanks y'all!
