Please do JLTG finale in theaters every season!
*No S19 spoilers*
Going and watching JLTG in theaters may have been my favorite show going experience of all time.
I've watched this dumb YouTube series for years and have always enjoyed the Wednesdays I get to catch up on it. When the chance to watch the finale was announced I told my wife, who knows nothing about it, that I was gonna get grandma to watch the kids and drag her along to the theaters to watch this with a bunch of other nerds. Btw, VO Sam, I drug my wife to the movie theater not the other way around. I gave her a loose explanation of "it's basically the amazing race but played like a board game" and she was glad there would at least be popcorn and soda. I can now say after this she is HOOKED and going back to watch all the other seasons so she's in the loop of what the heck the snack zone is and that we can watch future seasons together! The fact this group of young people on YouTube is creating a better show than major TV networks is unreal.
But, back to the cinema experience itself, this made it so much more fun to watch! We go to our local symphony hall to see movies such as Harry Potter, Star Wars, etc. played with a live orchestra and the way you have a crowd that is so in love and invested in what's happening as far as cheers, boos, etc. makes it even more fun to watch. This had that same experience but, with the added twist of everyone not knowing what was about to happen, made it incredibly fun. A theater of people genuinely laughing, cheering, and most importantly gasping about a show we all love was really just awesome.
One other thing that was surprising was how much of a reach this show truly has. We got into the theater very early and people watched everyone coming in as we were in the second highest row. We saw people ranging from elderly couples, to groups of young kids and teens (One fell asleep and had to be carried out by dad lol), families, and everything in between. As well this was a big theater with probably ~400 seats with two showing times and 7:00PM (earlier one) we went to was probably about 2/3rds sold out which was incredibly impressive!
All of this to say, Sam, Ben, Adam and the rest of the team, thank you for the show and please do these again in the future!
P.S. Go Sam!
