I was recently honored to paint with a team of 10 writers and muralists, drumming up support for a public art park in my city. At the event, a 2.5 year old kid was absolutely awestruck by the rather intense and aggressive 8ftx7ft puking orange skull I was painting. This was beyond awesome for me, because I’ve always found that painting skulls fulfills a childhood dream/goal I had. I loved bright, intense, vibrant characters and skulls as a kid, so seeing little dude’s bewilderment and excitement was a very validating and inspiring moment. When I learned that he was my homies nephew and continued to talk about the “big orange skull” for a week after the event, I knew I had to do something…This custom wood panel is for young Thomas’ 3rd birthday. A significantly less aggressive, kid-friendly, Mom-approved orange skull for a young patron of the arts. Cheers little dude!
