I think these two would have a deep respect for one another.
I couldn’t help but notice that Eva Stratt (Project Hail Mary) and Cecil Stedman are very similar in the sense that they are capable of making and willing to make difficult decisions for the sake of Earth’s well-being, no matter how severely the outcomes may haunt them personally in the end.
They are aware that they are effectively scapegoats in their respective stories, that they are the ones to shoulder the burdens of their own actions, and have made peace with that.
Because they can handle that kind of hellfire being rained down upon them.
Because, if they don’t rise to the call, then who will?
