We took the mast off our San Juan 28 last month to paint it and it looks so sharp. I couldn't find leather spreader boots for our odd-size spreader and I wanted 'em black anyway, so I drafted my own pattern and taught myself some leatherwork skills and here they are!

When you try out your aft car tracks for the first time on a close haul and you tack and are cranking on the winch handle with everything you got trying to stop the luff but you don't notice the genoa sheet got hung up on the stanchion... 😬

We were surprised it bent instead of bust out of the 50-year-old fiberglass.
