Water Availability Rockytop + Big Run Loop in Shenandoah

Hello, next week I will be going up Rockytop and coming back on Big Run Loop. Planning on bringing our water the 7 miles up to the Big Run Loop. Can someone confirm the water availability (+ anything else I might want to know about this route?).

I have called the park several times and no one on the back country line has picked up or returned my voicemail. I tried the South backpacking direct number and no one picked up there either. The folks at the Bird Visitor Center in Big Meadows didn't know.

Beginner Mountaineering Tent Q (Mt. Shasta)

Hello, I will be climbing Mt. Shasta on Memorial Day. I have a 4 season Trango 2p “expedition tent” and a 3 season Marmot Tungsten 2p. My pack is about 35lbs now and it’d be great if I can get rid of even more weight.

In general without sacrificing a lot of comfort in a situation like Mt Shasta where we can expect 20 mph winds and temps in the high 20s at Helen Lake (10.4 k feet), is the correct tool something like my reasonably sturdy 3 season, or is it really better to take the “bomb proof” trango that is 6-7 extra pounds.
