Alice Kinsella (GB) doing an AA comp in Sept!

Alice Kinsella (GB) has just shared on IG that she's competing in 4 weeks time and hopes to do AA! She said when she competes it will be 1 year and 1 week to the day since she's had her baby 🔥

She didn't say where/when, but that timelines aligns with Szombathely World Cup... 👀

She shared training clips, and it looks like she has most of her full Paris routines back, including aerial w/o to 2 back layouts on beam. Yay!

Gabriel Langton is walking & re-joined the team at their hotel

The CWG 'Official Team England' account just posted some photos & videos of Gabriel Langston walking back into the team hotel after his release from hospital, and getting a lovely welcome from his family, team-mates & coaches. I'm sure we're all so very relieved to see this. They gave him his team gold medal too, which was ❤️

Unsurprisingly he looks like he has a pretty stiff neck, but otherwise is moving fine. I'm sure British Gymnastics will give him all the mental health support he may need to get over that incident too.

Becky Downie interview on Gymcastic

I know quite a few on here are not the biggest fans of Gymcastic, but I thought the interview they published yesterday with Becky Downie was excellent. It was well-handled, and surprisingly candid - and no way would Becky have agreed to it going out unless she was 100% happy with this.

Key points for me were:

  1. how much positive change Martine George has brought into the GB WAG set-up since she was appointed last year, and the relative (unspoken) shade at the previous leadership under David Kenwright, who suddenly stepped down 2 months before the Paris Olympics w/o any public reason being given, and is now club coaching in Vancouver. The comments re: the previous leaderships selection decisions was... pointed. I'd noticed how supportive she was of all of the GB gymnasts on IG, and how much the gymnasts seem to like her. I'm sure she had a hand in the training link-up Abi Martin had with Kaylia Nemour & her coach - the benefits of which on bars have been so apparent.

  2. her comments re: UB bars differences between the FIG-approved brands. I knew from experienced how variable they can be in terms of flexibility/spring, bar shape, etc, but hadn't quite realised the point about the angle of the high bar relative to the low bar. That's insane, and she is quite right to keep pushing Gymnova and FIG to change on this. It also gave me a new level of appreciation for Kaylia Nemour, who competes way more than most others on bars, and must be changing brands all of the time - I mean, we all knew she was a queen, but to be able to adapt so frequently & quickly to different bars brands is a whole other level of ninja skills!

  3. another level of admiration for Becky, and her sheer guts and determination. And her honesty in sharing that talking therapies haven't been the most effective solution for her, especially as for many elite national programmes that would be the default & only solution offered.

Delays in PSC verification status update on Companies House and Gov.uk websites

Is anyone else here in the same position as me re: PSC verification? I starting trying to do it as soon as the 14-day window opened, but it took until day 3 oto finally submit my PSC verification, as I had a lot of issues with the new Gov.uk ONE Login process (the same technical issues reported in this thread - https://www.reddit.com/r/smallbusinessuk/comments/1tq2ezb/companies_house_verification_too_many_redirects/ ).

The verification finally went through 6 days ago, and I got an email from Companies House saying it had been received, and that I'd get an email you within 2 working days to confirm acceptance or rejection of this filing.

6 days on I've received no email confirmation from Companies House, and my PSC status on Companies House is still showing as not updated. I checked the status at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/provide-psc-verification which is 'Received' and 'we are processing your document'; and https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/user/transactions is showing as 'Processing'.

I'm getting slightly nervous as I've never had such a delay before, and the 14 day window ends on Friday. I've tried to re-do it online, but I keep getting sent to the pages referenced above saying 'received' and 'processing'.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Both Gadirovas aren't competing 'soon'... but are back training floor & vault

I think many of us were wondering if the Gadirovas were recovered enough from their most recent set of injuries to be back in full training on vault and floor, as they've been so guarded about sharing training clips.

Well, Jess shared a clip on IG today on the Gadirova Twins account. The context was them going to different clubs for training since the devastating fire at their club. In the clip Jess said they both trained routines on all 4 pieces: she didn't show them doing any serious tumbling or vaulting, but she talked about doing it and training upgrades, etc. I could only spot Jen in the clips, but that might be because Jess was filming.

She then said they had no competitions soon, so that suggests no CWGs or Euros for either of them.

(Ondine and Mya also make an appearance in this video)

Varna Challenge Cup: day 2 finals

Anyone else watching these finals, and cannot understand how the judges decided that putting your hand down in the middle of a triple wolf-spin on beam to stop yourself falling off isn't a fall?!

Ali Leat was also blatantly under-scored :/ Oh well, at least she still got a medal.
