Could this be foreshadowing for Macaque’s origins?

Looking at this image, it seems pretty clear that the characters weren’t placed randomly. Everyone’s position appears to have some kind of meaning

- MK is positioned between the colored stones and the mural of the Harbinger of Chaos (which represents him), symbolizing his role as the Harbinger.
- Wukong is in Nüwa’s hands because she created the first monkeys and humans.
- Mei being near Nüwa could symbolize her becoming the new bearer of one of the world’s greatest powers, the Samadhi Fire.
- Nezha and Li Jing are placed high above everyone else, representing the Celestial Realm.
- Pigsy, Tang, and Sandy are the most difficult to interpret. My guess is that they’re placed around the colored stones because the stones were created to preserve humanity by restoring the Pillar of Heaven and restarting the Great Cycle. In that sense, the three of them could represent the protectors of humanity, or even the protectors of the Harbinger of Chaos himself. Pigsy raised MK without knowing who he truly was. Tang preserved the knowledge that eventually helped MK understand his destiny. Sandy was the team’s emotional anchor, always helping them maintain their humanity

And then there’s Macaque

If we divide the temple into three symbolic layers, we get:

  1. The lower level - Earth and those who belong to the mortal world
  2. The upper level - Heaven and celestial beings
  3. The space in between - neither Earth nor Heaven

Macaque is placed in that middle space. It could imply that he doesn’t truly belong to either side and may have originated somewhere else, possibly Chaos Beyond

What’s interesting is that he’s positioned slightly closer to the earthly side than the heavenly one

If this really is foreshadowing, then it’s an incredible piece of visual storytelling. It would make this artwork even more brilliant than it already is

What if they made Monkey King’s staff black in S6 as a result of it being corrupted by Chaos magic?

I think that would be really cool, especially since some adaptations depict Ruyi Jingu Bang as black

I’ve never seen people talk about how well-written Nüwa actually is

One of the best things about her is that she has flaws. She isn’t portrayed as a perfect goddess who’s always right or always makes the right decisions. She genuinely believes her way of saving humanity is the only correct one, which shows that even a god can have “tunnel“ vision

Her interactions with MK are also peak. They both have completely different views on how the world should be saved. Nüwa believes the world needs to be controlled and reset to survive, while MK believes people should have free will and the chance to choose their own future. That difference in ideology makes their dynamic so interesting, at least for me

What do you think?

Why do people hate that Mei has the Samadhi Fire instead of Red Son?

I mean, I know Red Son is a fan favorite, but he’s not a main character, and he was never meant to be one. The storyline of how Mei inherited the Samadhi Fire was handled so well that I genuinely don’t understand why people hate it

Besides, I’m pretty sure that if Red Son had kept the Samadhi Fire people would be complaining that all the male characters got the coolest, most plot important powers while Mei was “just” given rich parents and dragon powers. They’d be accusing writers of sidelining her, or even worse, calling them sexist

I’m so glad the Samadhi Fire seems to be really important for S6

When S4 came out, I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t include Samadhi Fire at all. But then S5 finally explained everything, and in the final scenes of ep10, we see Red Son training Mei again!

I really hope Samadhi Fire will play a major role in S6

Monkie Kid Season 5 was released 2 years ago today

Definitely the most underrated season of the show, which, in my opinion, delivers the best message of them all. The animation change was disappointing, especially after s4, but the writing, voice acting, and music remained phenomenal. Definitely 9/10 season for me.

Fun fact: starting with S3, at least one member of the team has ended up in jail every season

Now I’m wondering who’s going to jail in the (hopefully) possible S6

It’s a real shame that LEGO didn’t make Yellow Tusk a bigfig…

That would’ve been peak

(I still really love Yellow Tusk minifigure tho)

IMO, Xiangliu is the smartest villain in LMK

He didn’t want to conquer any land, nor did he want to help people

He had a long-term plan and followed it step by step, it wasn’t something random he later just called a “plan” it was truly set from the beginning. Everything went almost exactly how he intended

Even when the heroes interfered (like Macaque), he adapted and still kept control of the situation. He also deeply influenced MK’s mindset about sacrifice. He knew MK would choose to sacrifice himself no matter what, and that MK would never allow Wukong to stop him once he made that decision. That’s why, after Macaque knocked him out, he didn’t go after Wukong. Instead, he focused on stopping everyone else, because he knew MK would never allow Wukong to stop him.

Even when he thought everything was going wrong, he quickly adapted and made a new plan by throwing MK into the Pillar with him

Happy 7th anniversary!

Can you believe Monkie Kid was announced 7 years ago? Technically 6 globally, but in China it’s counted as 7

It would be so cool if Peng aligned with whoever’s “winning”

Yellow Tusk and Azure kinda admitted their mistakes, but Peng just flew away??

They’re an incredibly interesting character, and I’d love to see them fighting alongside Chaos. (and it would also explain where they’ve been all Season 5)

What do you think about this original version of the opening scene from the Season 1 special? I’m honestly glad they changed it to what it is now.

This one is okay, but it kind of feels weird
