UC3A Internals and Emitter Swap

This swap was probably one of the easiest/quickest I’ve ever done. One reason for this is that there’s no thermal paste involved.

First I tried some FFL351a in 3700K. The beam hotspot is so very narrow on a domeless emitter paired with these optics. I just didn’t like it that much.

Second, and final, a pair of Nichia 519a’s in 4500K, dome on. Love it. It matches pretty well with the white side light.

The internals are in one piece and pop out easily once all the screws are undone. There’s a silver post with some notches for a flathead screwdriver to screw tight that securely holds the internal chassis in place.

3x21E Phantom Flickering

The original unit was purchased two months ago. Took it for a walk to break it in and I somehow managed to fry two emitters. I also noticed some random flickering when turned off. So, undaunted, I figure I’d order a new driver and replace the emitters.

Second try was today. New driver, new emitters. Everything seems to work fine until I shut it off. That’s when the completely random flickering starts, again.

I just can’t figure out what might be causing this random flickering. Two drivers, two sets of emitters, cleaned the contacts, reseated everything, nothing fixes this. Has anyone else had this happen to their 3x21E?

“Orange” Aux - E12 Eclipse

So, I received my E12 Eclipse yesterday and I’m pretty stoked with it so far. After cleaning up the beam with a bit of DC Fix, I really like it.

One of my small issues with it is the “orange” aux setting. In the rainbow breathing transition, the light is able to achieve a wonderful shade of orange (freeze-frame). When setting the aux on a solid color, and cycling through to what is supposed to be orange, it’s just a slightly lighter shade of green. It’s apparent that the unit is capable of obtaining a good orange color when in solid color mode, but it just doesn’t.

My question, is it possible to adjust the solid color of orange aux by manipulating a custom version of Anduril? Is this something that can be fixed with a future update? If so, who would fix it? Thanks!

Definitely more of a luxury item IMO, copper lights are heavy, functional, and exquisite. They can be polished over and over again or left alone to develop a unique patina. The Acebeam EC20 in copper is now one of my favorite copper lights (I only have three), mostly due to the design of the spirals on the battery tube. It’s simply gorgeous to my eyes.

Reviews of the EC20 itself have been mixed. Some don’t like the UI and others don’t like the fact that it’s very difficult to mod (due to the conformal coated connectors from the driver.) Personally though, I don’t mind the UI and the 5000k 519a’s in this one are neutral and not green at all, which I love. Sure, the aux lights have artifacts (many do) and are more or less just for pretty, but so be it.

This is about the max size I’ll consider for a copper light simply due to the extra weight. Sure, some appreciate the extra heft and to each their own. I thought about the E75 in copper but being a bigger light, I’m not sure I would appreciate the weight.
