Role Type: Contractor (~15 hrs a week)

Senior Software Engineers to support a customer’s innovative project. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.

As an expert you will be creating Reinforcement Learning Environments which test and AI model’s ability to solve complex software engineering problems related to fixing code, creating features, refactoring code and optimizing performance. You will be tasked with creating a reproducible environment and golden reference solution for the problem.

Applicants must have clear open source contributions and profiles to showcase it like GitHub or GitLab. (Preferably with C++, Python, JAVA, GoLang, Typescript, or Rust)

Scope of Work

Contribute expert-level code samples, debugging strategies, and development insights in Python3, Java, Rust, Go, C++, or TypeScript.

Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software defects and performance bottlenecks in diverse codebases.

Implement robust new features, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and adherence to software best practices.

Refactor and optimize legacy code to improve clarity, efficiency, and long-term reliability.

Document technical reasoning, solution approaches, and code decisions to enhance AI training data quality.

Review and validate peer-contributed code and technical submissions for accuracy and clarity.

Preferred Qualifications

Significant hands-on expertise in at least one of the following: Python3, Java, Rust, Go, C++, or TypeScript.

Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles.

Proven ability to debug complex systems, resolve bugs, and deliver effective optimizations.

Experience with large codebase refactoring and legacy system modernization.

Track record of delivering high-impact features from conception through delivery within cross-functional projects.

Interest in or curiosity about AI and its technical challenges (previous AI experience not required).

Start Timeline & Availability

We typically fill roles within 48 hours and are looking for experts ready to jump in right away. If selected, we expect you to start your first tasks within 24–48 hours of completing onboarding.

AI Professionals - Machine Learning Professionals $70-$100 hr remote

Description

Join a leading AI lab's cutting-edge GenAI team to be at the core of the AI revolution, where your expertise fuels the development of the most advanced Large Language Models.

  1. Overview

A leading AI lab is advancing the frontier of agentic AI systems by building models that can reason through, execute, and evaluate complex technical tasks across domains like machine learning, data science, data engineering, and software development. We're seeking talented AI & Data Science subject-matter experts (SMEs) to bring deep technical expertise and elevate the quality of our AI training data.

This is a W-2 employment position, requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week (during weekdays). This position will be placed at a leading AI Lab as part of their extended workforce.

  1. Key Responsibilities

Guide research and engineering teams to close knowledge gaps in AI and data science domains, surfacing the nuances that distinguish expert-level work from surface-level reasoning.

Design challenging agentic tasks rooted in real-world ML, data science, data engineering, and software workflows, and write accurate, well-documented solutions that serve as ground truth.

Evaluate AI agent outputs against your solutions, providing detailed written feedback that captures correctness, efficiency, and reasoning quality.

Develop and refine evaluation frameworks and rubrics for assessing agentic behavior on AI and data science tasks.

Collaborate with other subject matter experts to ensure consistency and accuracy in training data.

  1. Core Qualifications

3+ years of research, academic, or industry experience in Machine Learning, or Data Science, or Software Engineering, or Computer Science, or Statistics, or Biology, or Electrical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering, or Physics, or Chemistry, or Mathematics, or Materials Science, or other STEM background.

Demonstrated technical expertise in at least one of: programming, data analysis, ML modeling, statistical methods, or computational methods.

Ability to commit to 40 hours per week during weekdays for the duration of the engagement.

Prior experience with data annotation, labeling, evaluation, or human feedback collection is a strong plus.

Experience with LLMs, AI systems, or agentic workflows; familiarity with agentic frameworks is a plus.

Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain technical decisions clearly.
