Why does everyone hate on AI roleplay like it's something to be ashamed of?

Every time someone mentions RP in a general AI sub they get downvoted to hell and hit with the "go outside" comments.

But these same people are fine with binge watching Netflix for 6 hours or spending their whole weekend on video games.

Why is creating interactive stories with an AI somehow worse than passively consuming content that someone else made?

Is it just because it's associated with NSFW? Because half the people doing AI RP are writing full fantasy storylines with zero sexual content. When did using your imagination become embarrassing?

Vidqu AI honest review...decent faceswap, mid everything else

Saw Vi͏dqu A͏I pop up a few times so i gave it a real shot. two weeks, fr͏ee tier first then pa͏id ($9.99/month for 80 credits͏). here's the quick breakdown.

it's not really a dedicated AI companion app, it's more of an all-in-one creative tool. face swap (photos and videos), image generation, video generation, AI chat, video translation with lip-sync. everything in one place, browser-based.

**What's decent**

The face swap is legitimately the be͏st feature. multi-face swap in a single video actually works and that's hard to find elsewhere. image gen is ok, photorealistic and anime options, decent quality for the price. Video gen exists (image-to-video, text-to-video) and it's fine for quick social media clips. The NSF͏W side is fully open, no filters. and you don't need to si͏gn up to try basic chat which is nice.

**What's not great**

The AI chat side is weak. characters start fine but flatten into the same generic chatbot after a while. Character tags like "drama" or "fantasy" barely change anything... they all converge to the same personality. Memory is pa͏id-only and even then it's surface level. Voice is basically nonexistent on the chat side.

The credit system is frustrating, failed generations still cost credits. so you're paying for stuff that didn't even work.

**What's actually bad**

The billing. I've seen multiple reports of people getting hit with surprise annual cha͏rges when they thought they signed up monthly. Fine print buries yearly billing. Cancellation process is intentionally confusing. One person said they sent 100+ emails with no response from support. Scam detector gives the site a 2.6/100 trust score which... yeah.

**Bottom line**

Vidqu AI is a decent face swap tool with some extras. If you specifically want multi-face video swap on a budget, it works. but as an AI companion or chat platform it's mid at best. the chat, memory, and character depth don't compete with dedicated platforms. and the billing practices are a real red flag.. be careful with your payment info.

5/10. use it for face swap, skip it for everything else.
